Oslo RoryNights 2010 took place 5th and 6th of February 2010 at the venue Herr Nilsen.

So first a great BIG THANKS to all the audience, bands, soundmen, barmen, volunteer workers from Østkanten Bluesklubb and everybody else who made this two day tribute such a great success!

There were visitors from Germany, France, Ireland, Holland, Scotland, Italy, Belgium and all over Norway!

All the bands played up their best and did blistering performances. Check YouTube in the next few weeks for highlights from the tribute

Shiverbone (Norway)

started the whole thing on Friday, and played among others Knut Roppestads own Rory tribute song "Let´s Go To Work"  to an enthusiastic audience. Great song!

The Slumming Angels (Ireland)

took it even further and did one of their best shows ever! Robert Hogan was amazing and did blistering guitar work. Their new drummer, Tommo, was taylormade for the band, and Robbie on bass even better than last year. Slumming Angels played both nights, impossible to say which was best as they both were brilliant. e audience went berserk in the best viking tradition when they did Going To My Hometown.

The Bearded Babies (Norway)

being so good Slumming Angels were a real hard act to follow, but Bearded Babies didn´t think twice about it and did their best, most rocking show ever. Their new bass player Olaf Hjellum proved to have lifted their playing even further. They ended the tribute with 3 songs on Saturday and got the audience cocking with their Bullfrog Blues.

Big Guns (Italy)

started Saturdays party. And what a start and what a party that was!!! Even better than Friday, and friday was HOT! BG did a stunning performance, with Claudio ripping it off on guitar, and Silvia putting a nice twist to Rory with her singing. 

Against The Grain (Scotland)

after Slumming Angels did their second show in two days on Saturday, Against The Grain hit the stage like a hurricane. No disrespect to any of the other guitarist playing tis weekend, but Dough Carrol is by far the best. His playing is so strong and powerful it´s unbelieveable!

So, now next years tribute must be planned, and the planning has already started. Without doubt you will see some of this years bands again next year. There are also a few Norwegian bands entering the scene now with Rory stuff... And, of course, next year we will do the jam/acoustic session on Saturday that we had to cancel this year!

Oslo RoryNights 2011!

The 2011 tribute will take place on

the 4th and 5th of February 2011 at  Herr Nilsen in Oslo, Norway.

Herr Nilsen is a 150 seat venue in the middle of Oslo.

Be sure to book your tickets early, because the tribute tends to be sold out!
